The Rula Quawas Research Fellowship

In July of 2017 Forward Global Women suffered the loss of our co-founder, inspiration and sister Rula Quawas. In honor of Rula’s life work empowering young women, Forward Global Women has created the Quawas Young Leader Fellowship. In it’s inaugural year the Fellowship will be used to help bring one young Jordanian woman to the 2019 Convening of Women Leaders, hosted in Marrakech, Morocco.

Qualified applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 20-35.
  • Must work in the fields of activism, academia, or politics.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the fields of women’s rights, peace studies and the MENA Region.

2018/2019 Fellowship Recipient Announced

Amal Adnan Al-Khayyat has been chosen to be the 2018/2019 Rula Quawas Research Fellowship Recipient. Her acceptance of the fellowship was announced during Forward Global Women’s 2018 Convening at the opening reception hosted by Jordanian Ambassador Dina Kawar.

Amal was supervised by Board Member Fatima Sadiqi of Morocco. Her scholarly article was presented during the 2019 Convening of Women Leaders in Marrakech, Morocco.


Honoring Rula

During Forward Global Women’s 2018 Convening in Washington, DC Rula was remembered through thoughtful videos prepared by Orit Zuaretz of Israel and her niece Leen Quawas.
